| But is it Art? |
KYRLE Probus Club members
were quite convinced it was, after seeing and listening to member Brian
Wozencroft’s recent talk and presentation entitled ‘But Is It Art?...’
Brian said that he trained
as an engineer and draftsman, but painting had been a hobby of his from an
early age. He started painting in oils in his early 20s, but then work took
over and it was not until he retired that he took it up again.
He explained that he
painted from his own photographs and he showed members some of the
photographs and the paintings produced from these photos. He also showed how
he used a compilation of photographs to produce an original painting.
Brian showed paintings
produced from pictures taken in Northern Cyprus, Ravello on the Amalfi
Coast, Canada, including Tofino on the west coast of Vancouver Island and
Nova Scotia on the other side of the country; La Rochelle and the Rhone
Valley in France and nearer home, the Snape Maltings in Suffolk, the West
Pembrokeshire Coast and Langland Bay in South Wales and finally of course a
view of Ross-on-Wye.
